Saudi: Muslim Gang involved in 30 armed robberies netted in capital


Two of the four armed robbers arrested by the Riyadh PoliceRIYADH - Police have arrested a four-man gang on Saturday in connection with armed robberies all over Riyadh. According to officers, the suspects — in their 20s and 30s —stole money and valuables from limousine drivers, shopkeepers and pedestrians. Although the gang is believed to have carried out 30 robberies, the police said only eight victims had come forward. Only one of the victims who filed a report was a Saudi. Based on the statements from the victims, who had been targeted in different parts of the capital, police located and identified the suspects. An expat taxi driver complained to the police that four people carjacked him and took his day’s earning at knifepoint. After looting him, the gang kicked the driver out of his car. The other expatriates, all shopkeepers, said the robbers targeted their businesses and robbed them of cash and mobile phone cards. The Saudi victim said the gang stole his cab that was parked near his house in Manfouha. The nationalities of the suspects were not revealed by the police who are still trying to find out if more people were involved in the robberies.
